Jennifer South Family Home Destroyed
My sister, Jennifer South, lost her Orlando home in a tornado last night. This home housed her entire world, including her daughter Bailey (my niece) and Bailey's two month old daughter (Jenn's granddaughter), Aliya. We are fortunate that none of them were harmed.
This morning, the fire marshal condemned the home and all have been ordered not to enter it. The structure is not secure and could fall at any moment. Everything they know is lost. All baby supplies (bottles, clothes, diapers, etc), their only family photos of Bailey with her late dad (who passed away 2 months ago), basic daily necessities like my sister's seizure medication, her contacts and glasses, her computer and passwords—are all gone. She doesn’t know where to start today. And, as her family, neither do we.
My mother sent what available money she could and the American Red Cross has provided them with a hotel room for the next few days as well as a gift card to purchase basic necessities.
Unfortunately, I am not in a place where I can offer much financial support at the moment, so I am hoping to help her this way.
It feels like an incredibly massive ask, and I am sorry to put this out there right now when so many of us are struggling to get by in light of recent economic changes—but I’ve never known someone more in need of a helping hand.
Many of you know that my sister and her daughter have not lived the easiest life, yet she has somehow remained the most positive, optimistic human I know. She is strong and I know this won’t break her, but if you have a spare buck or two and want to help, it would be incredibly appreciated.
And even better than money, please just pray for them alongside me today.
Thank you—from the deepest depths of my being.
Love you all and praying for your health and safety too.
