Jennifer Vann Spinal Surgery Post Op Fund

My name is Rebecca Landin, and I am a longtime friend and client of Jennifer Vann. Jennifer is desperately in need of support!

Jennifer Vann has been a fixture in the Colorado Hunter/Jumper community for over thirty years. She has devoted her life to helping riders learn correct and effective riding, and has helped build the foundation for hundreds of riders. Jennifer has given so much to so many. She is beloved within the CHJA community and especially within her “barn family” at Cascade Farms.

This past weekend, we were devastated to learn that Jennifer must undergo complex critical cervical spinal surgery following a riding accident.

As with most lifelong competitive riders, Jennifer has sustained many injuries over the years, including several significant injuries to the cervical spine. During a recent riding incident, one of these old injuries became destabilized, and she began to experience severe neurological symptoms. After a trip to the emergency room, it was determined that she has sustained alarming destabilization of the spine as well as severe compression and bruising of the spinal cord at the C1 level. After doctors determined the extent and severity of her injury, she was admitted to the hospital.

Due to the serious nature of the injury, Jennifer must undergo two highly specialized and complex spinal surgeries that will have an undetermined recovery time. The first is scheduled for Thursday, August 11. Hopefully, her insurance will cover much of the hospital stay and surgery costs, but due to the lengthy recovery, she will have significant income loss and impact on her training program on top the cost of the skilled nursing care that will be required after the surgery. There will be huge financial fallout from this. As many of you know, Jennifer is on her own financially after losing her beloved husband, Mark, to cancer many years ago.
