Jennifer Watson and the Watson Family
Jennifer Watson was in her house listening to music when she heard her dogs barking like never before. When she went outside to see what was going on she heard a frantic yell for help. A family was stranded in the middle of South Lake. While on a fishing outing their boat took on water and sank. Fully clothed, dad was struggling to get his 4 year old son to the shore. When Jennifer saw what was happening she did not hesitate, jumping into the water and keeping her eye on the family, she swam out to the middle of the lake and helped the little boy get to shore with a very grateful dad following behind. Once on shore Jennifer’s brother Johnny, found clothes and blankets to give the cold and tired men as well as chance to catch their breath.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Jennifer is a hero everyday, helping her mom who has MS and is wheelchair bound. Everyday Jennifer helps her mom to her chair, feeds her, bathes her, makes sure she takes her medication, and is just there for her. If mom has an itch, it’s Jennifer who scratches it. She has chosen to go to school locally and works her schooling around her mom’s care. Jenn is studying to be a nurse at school but she brings with her the compassion she has learned from her mom who tries to stay positive everyday and keep their family together.
I feel so very lucky to know this amazing young woman. A real life hero.
