Jennifer's Kidney Transplant Journey

Hello, my name is Kari Spurlock. I have had the privilege of being close friends with Jennifer since 2011 when we began working together at Sonora Elementary. She has become more like family. As most of you know, spring 2022 Jennifer was diagnosed with kidney failure due to an autoimmune disease. Since then she has continued to work full time while being on dialysis waiting for a transplant. The time is finally here! Her transplant surgery is scheduled for July 20th in Tulsa, OK where her sister, Alyson, will be giving her one of her kidneys. This is an amazing celebration! I wanted to start this Go Fund Me to help them along the way with travel, medical expenses, and lost wages due to being off work. Jennifer and her family feel so blessed by everyone that has helped them so far through gifts, donations, and giving of time. I know Jennifer has impacted many lives through her friendship, community service, and years as a teacher. I know many will want to help her out during this journey. She will be in the hospital 3 to 5 days after surgery.She will then spend 2 to 3 weeks, but possibly more, living in Tulsa. Once back home in NWA, she will be driving to Tulsa two times a week for the first 6 weeks and once a week for the first 6 months. After that she will travel to Tulsa every other week and so on until released. She will be off work for 12 weeks.
