Jenn's Battle against Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Cancer hit our young family hard this year. Jenn was diagnosed officially on May 20th 2024 with Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer at the Spire hospital Cardiff after first presenting at the GP in January 2024 aged 31 years old.
" I've got 3 children and I'm only 31" were the words Jenn kept repeating after hearing the news. 3 and a half weeks later Jenn had a Mastectomy on the left side and a full lymph node clearance in her left arm. Jenn's tumour was 7cm and had spread into 10/14 lymph nodes meaning she faced Chemotherapy & radiotherapy as the next steps. I write this now 6 months into her Chemotherapy journey, she has gone through 14 rounds of chemo, braved a picc line in her arm, faced blood clot in her arm, allergic reaction to medicines, several hospital stays and all the side effects related with intense chemo -- as she says loosing her hair is the least of her worries!
Looking into 2025 we've got two more rounds of Chemotherapy to push through, radiotherapy in singleton hospital Swansea as well as further adjuvant therapies. Jenn also has monthly Zoladex injections to suppress her oestrogen levels.
Unfortunately Jenn didn't get her initial diagnosis and care through the NHS and when the time is right she aims to advocate for others but its cost us £12,500 alone for just diagnosis and surgery which is a huge hit for our little family.
Jenn's radiotherapy is set to hit us again as she stays in Swansea away from the kids Mon-Friday to receive daily treatment. Our three children have taken Mummy's illness in their stride, and have faced all the bumps along the way ever so bravely. We feel both proud of them and sad/guilty they are experiencing such scary stuff so young.
We're looking to fundraise to help with accommodation costs and travel for radiotherapy in Swansea to just ease the stress and pressure.
We'd like to just thank everyone that has reached out to us with positive messages and kind words, those that have helped with the children as well as donating at Neyland AFC & RFC boxing day charity match - we're ever so thankful, grateful and overwhelmed with the support we've received as it really will help pull us through this difficult period in our lives. No words of thanks will ever feel enough. This page has been set up after I (Patrick) was approached a lot on boxing day with folks asking for a secure link to donate online, so I’ve done this as just somewhere if you wish to, you can.
Again, I don't quite know how to thank anyone enough for their kindness in helping my family, thank you.
