Jenny’s Journey: a fundraiser for hope and healing

Four days before her 30th birthday and trip to Mexico with friends…

Jenny was running a very usual route near their home when a car hit her going about 40 mph. She was taken to Froedtert Trauma Center and is currently in ICU. She has a fractured left leg, multiple level fractures in her thoracic spine, fractured collarbone, fractured pelvis, fractured right elbow, multiple rib fractures, and we’re still waiting on the results of additional scans and x-rays. She has some small damage to blood vessels around her brain, but that should heal over time.

She underwent surgery this afternoon to remove a disc in her back that was bulging and to fuse levels of her thoracic spine from T1-T9. The surgery went well .They are doing surgery tomorrow to place rods and screws in her leg for the tibia fracture.

Due to the severity of the damage to her spinal cord and the fractures in her back, she does not have feeling or motor function from about her chest down to her feet. She cannot move her legs or wiggle her toes. There is going to be a long road of recovery and extensive, intensive rehab to help her adjust to a new normal, but we all know Jenny doesn’t stay down. She’s a fighter, and she’s determined.

By some miracle and the Grace of God, she is alive, and she has been the same Jenny in her conversations with all of us.
