Please Help End Hope's Pain. She Needs You!

Donation protected
Some of you know this kitty's story and may have donated to help her in the past. Thank you. And some of you may have just found Hope and Jen's story now. I'll tell a bit of Hope's story, again, briefly, and explain why a second GoFundMe is needed to help her.

Jen was an incredibly lovely person who adored all animals. She helped and rescued so many. The last cat Jen rescued, in August of 2022, was Hope. Jen gave her that name, because we were doubtful that the kitten would survive. Hope was about 10 months old but weighed only 4 pounds and was starving to death. She was diagnosed with a nasal polyp that obstructed her ability to smell her food or eat. The nasal polyp was successfully removed, a very risky and expensive surgery, at LIVS, thanks to generous GoFundMe donations.

Hope is currently in a foster home, but still awaits a forever home. She is a beautiful 8-pound cat, loving, playful, and so happy. But she has developed a serious dental condition called "stomatitis" which is a painful and life-threatening inflammation of the mouth. If you notice in her current photo, at right, her mouth is open. This reflects the constant pain she is now in. It hurts to even close her mouth or eat.

Veterinarians have tried treating the condition with medications, but it has continued to worsen. The only real solution, at this point, is to have her teeth removed. She can live a long and happy life, without pain, with this procedure. But it is not cheap and we don't have the resources to pay for this costly surgery. We have a scheduled surgery date with Prism Veterinary Dentistry on March 20th with a board-certified dental specialist. (See Prism estimate attached. I'm sure they would be OK if you called and wanted to verify the procedure we have scheduled for Hope.) We are desperately trying to raise funds to go forward with the surgery.

Jen, tragically, passed away in September after a long battle with illness. Her loss has devastated countless people. She will never be forgotten.

Thank you to anyone who can help Hope overcome her current medical condition. Once this is resolved, we feel confident that she will be ready to be adopted into a loving home. Hope continues to be a small part of Jen's legacy of kindness toward animals and she is an inspiration for many of us to continue to help animals in need.

The Animal Project is a long-standing 501(c)(3) registered non-profit rescue group, run entirely by volunteers, that has rescued and rehomed thousands of homeless animals over the past 2 decades in the greater New York City metro area.
