Jen's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
Hello everyone, we are setting up this fundraiser to support our lovely sister Jennifer Fuller, who was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in May of 2014 at the age of 35. Crohn’s is a chronic inflammatory bowel autoimmune disease that can cause numerous issues within the GI tract. Our wonderful sister has gone from healthy and hard working to extremely sick and malnourished in just a year.
During the first couple of years, Jen was able to maintain good health without any severe issues; however, in July of 2016 the disease began to cause serious complications. She was forced to miss work more frequently due to severe pain and fatigue. It wasn’t long before she was faced with applying for short-term disability and eventually long-term disability. Her physical ability to work diminished to the point she has had to leave her managerial position at Sam’s Club and leave her home in Edmond, OK to live with her parents.
Jen has consistently been in and out of the hospital with severe and debilitating complications requiring her to seek second opinions with various specialists in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and the Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis, MN. These complications have caused Jen a great deal of physical pain which has contributed to a rapid weight loss of over 100 pounds. Jen has been an exemplary patient, tolerating MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, injections, and suffering through many infections that left her and our family anxious and scared. As many of you know, these procedures and hospital stays are incredibly expensive and the journey is not over yet. In September, Jen is scheduled for a Small Bowel Resection, removing parts of her small intestine, and a Colectomy, removing part of her colon. During these procedures, surgeons will determine if an Oophorectomy is necessary for the removal of one of her ovaries. All of this, of course, has been incredibly emotional and stressful for Jen, as well as all of our family members.
It goes without saying that Jennifer is a beautiful, compassionate person and her strength through all of this is quite admirable. We love her so much and would be forever grateful for any contribution to help ease Jen’s medical expenses and make this next chapter somewhat easier on her and the Fuller family. Thank you for the continued support and prayers as we get closer to Jen’s big surgery.
