Their father, Michael J. Smalley, age 50, of Lynn, died suddenly, on Friday, May 4, 2018, after being stricken at his home. He was the beloved husband of Deborah A. (Sheehan) Smalley. Born in Lynn in 1968, Mike was the son of the late Edgar H., Jr. and Carol Jean (Russell) Smalley. He was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Vocational Technical High School in 1986. He worked as a machine shop foreman at Rose’s Marine in Gloucester for over 30 years and also operated Smalley Aquatics. Mike enjoyed boating with his family and was a member of the Fox Hill Yacht Club in Saugus. He was named Man of the Year at Fox Hill Yacht Club in 2017. He was active in Lynn Youth Soccer for many years and was a loving and caring husband and father and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife Debbie with whom he shared over 28 years of marriage, Mike was the loving and devoted father of Jeremy Edgar Smalley and Rebecca Carol Smalley, both of Lynn. He was the brother of Jeffrey A. Smalley and his wife Mary Jane of Lynn and Sara Jean Hubbard and her husband Darryl of Hollis, ME; uncle of Melissa (Hubbard) and Matthew Bushnell and their daughter Abigail, Mark Hubbard, Steven Smalley and Amanda Smalley and brother-in-law of Sister Catherine Sheehan of Lawrence. Mike is also survived by his Godparents and “Guardian Angels”, John “Jackie” and Mary (Kelter) Hollow of Lynn and his beloved dogs Dziki and Lemmy, who will miss him very much. He was the son-in-law of the late Janice M. Sheehan.
A Funeral will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn, at 9:30a.m., followed by a Funeral Service in Sacred Heart Church, Lynn, at 10:30a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
