On Tuesday, February 11, 2020, my brother Jeremy Gonzales experienced sudden and severe head pain and was rushed to the hospital in Las Cruces, NM by his wife, Desiree. A CT scan revealed that he had a subarachnoid hemorrhage (stroke caused by bleeding in his brain). He was transported by ambulance to a level one trauma hospital an hour away in El Paso, TX and admitted to the Neuro ICU. He has had multiple CTs, an angiogram and an MRI as well as other tests and exams over the last week but doctors have been unable to locate the source of the bleed.
Jeremy is doing miraculously well despite the grave circumstances he faced and although he is no longer in the ICU, he is still experiencing painful headaches, is sensitive to light and noise and faces a lengthy recovery ahead. Doctors do not yet know when he will be released from the hospital and they are continuing to run tests to try and identify the cause of the bleed.
During the past week, Desiree has been driving back and forth from home to the hospital everyday in order to continue caring for their home and to keep their children's lives as normal as possible.
This unexpected medical illness will also surely cause a financial burden on the family in the months ahead so we are rallying together to offer any assistance that we can. Any gift of any size will be deeply appreciated and will serve to assist with their future medical bills.
