Help a Veteran & His Service Dog

Donation protected
My father's (Colonel Tony Dingmann) psychiatric service dog, Jeremy was in a hit and run car accident on Saturday, December 5.

Since then, Jeremy has undergone emergency surgery to repair a herniated diaphragm and remove his ruptured spleen. He has sustained three fractured ribs and bruised liver and lungs and bouts of arrhythmia.

The best news is that after 5.5 days in ICU at Cape Cod Emergency Veterinary Hospital, Jeremy is heading home (on Thursday, 12/10) and is expected to make a full recovery! He still requires pain meds and will wear a lidocaine patch to numb his surgery wounds. He began to eat and is trying to walk around more.

We are so overwhelmed and grateful for all the love and support of family, friends, co-workers and even strangers! Not only have we raised the money to help my father pay Jeremy's bills in full but we have restored his faith in humanity after such a traumatizing event.

For everything earned from Thursday evening (12/10) onward, we will donate to Heroes in Transition. My father and Jeremy came to be together after three tours in Iraq through this local charity. He is named in honor of fallen soldier, Marine Sgt. Jeremy McQueary.

Jeremy will be at home for some time but can't wait to get back to work at the VA. He's an important member of our family and the VA community where he participates in each patient session, easing the discomfort and anxiety of those who seek my father's help. His job is so important as he touches the lives of many and has been so instrumental in my father's transition back to civilian life after war.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.
