Jeri Hughes' Memorial: A Life of Advocacy

On March 18th, the love of my life Ms. Jeri Hughes took her wings. Ms. Hughes was a strong advocate for the rights of transgender people. Jeri as most folks called her has been my mom for over 20 years. I enjoyed the pleasure of having her with me on so 'many projects and boards such Transgender Health Empowerment (THE) and Empowering the Transgender Community (ETC of which both were Non-profits. Ms. Hughes worked tirelessly all the way to the end even with her work at the DC Department of Employment Services (DOES). My mother also was a biker and road during several Capitol Pride Parades. There is a void in the LBGTQ today with the transition of Ms. Hughes. Please keep my mom, the family and the LBGTQ community in Prayer. Donations will suppoprt the Celebration of Life Memorial for Ms. Hughes and in lieu of flowers please contribute to the fundraiser which will provide for the LBGTQ Fund which will be named the Jeri Hughes Fund.
