Jerry Davis is FINALLY EXONERATED! On Friday, March 15, 2024, the State of Louisiana dismissed all criminal charges against Mr. Davis, at last ending Mr. Davis’s nightmare that began in 1983 with a false arrest.

Mr. Davis was imprisoned for 40 years for a crime he did not commit.

He was arrested on June 21, 1983, for first-degree murder. He was convicted on January 31, 1984, and spared the death penalty and sentenced to life without parole after the jury could not agree on a sentence.

On July 26, 2023, Judge Tracey Flemings-Davillier of the Criminal District Court for Orleans Parish vacated his first-degree murder conviction and released him on pre-trial bail. For the last 8 and ½ months, Mr. Davis has been fighting to seek to get the false charges against him dismissed by the State by showing how the prosecutors in his case failed to disclose evidence favorable to him and that they knowingly used false testimony against him at trial to secure a wrongful conviction of an innocent man. At Mr. Davis’s trial, prosecution witnesses lied about their criminal records, one witness was an informant getting a secret deal in another case, and there was significant evidence that the crime was actually perpetrated by the State’s two witnesses.

Throughout his four decades of imprisonment, Mr. Davis consistently maintained his innocence and today he was at last vindicated. During the last 8 and ½ months Mr. Davis continued to fight to clear his name, praying that justice and truth will prevail, and his prayers were answered today.
