Update 3/21/22- Our hearts are overflowing with joy and love from all the generosity we have received on behalf of the Jerry Lee Jarrett Center. We should be breaking ground in the next few weeks on the building that will be home to the Jerry Lee Jarrett Center. We have raised $250,000 so far which is beyond our wildest dreams. Due to Covid and the increase in prices, we need to raise another $150,000 to get into the building debt free. We know we have asked a lot, but we are asking for just a little bit more. The Bible says, "You have not because you ask not." We are asking. No amount is too small. We can't do this without the help of our community, friends and family. We would love to challenge all veterans to send in any amount they can to help us in this dream of ours. The finish line is in our sights. Please help. If you are unable to help financially, we will gladly accept all prayers for this amazing center to come to life. Please share our go fund me on any and all of your social media sites. We know we can make this happen!
Jerry Lee Jarrett was a man with the biggest heart, contagious smile and a personality that could fill an entire room. He truly was a gentle giant. After a ten-minute conversation with him, you felt like you had known him for years. Jerry Lee Jarrett was a Vietnam Vet from the 3rd Battalion Company D with the 187th Infantry and the 101st Airborne Rangers.

To be in his presence you would never know how highly decorated he was because he was so humble. During his military service he earned many awards and medals which include; The Silver Star for repeatedly exposing himself to fire until his men got back safely. Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver Star, Presidential Unit Citation, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Accommodation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Unit Citation, Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, Expert in an M16, M60 & M14, Civil Action Honor Medal Unit Citation First Class, Overseas Service Bars, Parachute Badge and a Combat Infantry Badge. Each of these awards for bravery in battle make him one of the most highly decorated men in Kansas.
Jerry loved his country, he loved his wife, he loved his daughters and sons, he loved his family but, most of all, he loved his God! Jerry passed away, unexpectedly September 14, 2019, before he had put all his plans in motion for a Community Center. His wife, daughters and church want to see his plans fulfilled. The land has been purchased, the permits have been approved. Now we just need to get the building on the land.
The Jerry Lee Jarrett Life Center will be a resource center for the city and people of Bonner Springs, Kansas and surrounding areas. The Life Center will include; Veteran's Affair, Pantry of Hope, Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous and Child in Need of Care services which were all near and dear to his heart. The land has been purchased, the blue prints are made and the building is ready to be built.
There is no donation too small. Please help us uphold his legacy and honor the man who so bravely served his country and will continue to serve his community. Even in his absence his presence will always be felt. In the words of Jerry Lee Jarrett "Rock Steady" which means "I Love You!”
