Jerry Wampfler GRIT Scholarship

Tax deductible
Jerry donated $25,000 to initially fund The Wampfler Grit Scholarship at his hometown high school in New Philadelphia, OH ... our family will match additional donations you make. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this scholarship that meant so much to Jerry.

In Jerry's words: “We created the ‘Grit Award and Scholarship’ to recognize a lineman on my high school's football team who demonstrates leadership by being a hard worker, the ‘grinder’ who consistently puts forth great effort, and is a good citizen off the field. This student may or may not be a stellar athlete or student, but more importantly they have a strength of character and perseverance that will carry them far.”

Background:
Jerry Wampfler died on Sunday, January 21, 2024.

For 40 years Jerry worked with Hall of Fame coaches Woody Hayes, Bo Schembeckler, Ara Parseghian and Dick Vermeil. He was the O-line coach on the undefeated 1966 National Champion Notre Dame team, and the 1980 Super Bowl Philadelphia Eagles. Said Vermeil “... he was a great man and an equal coach, the best O-Line coach I ever worked with!” Jerry also developed numerous All-Pro lineman and coached the O-line that opened holes for Hall of Famer Barry Sanders.
