Honoring Jerry Wellman and his family

Donation protected
This page has been established to support the Wellman Family as they navigate this most difficult, and grief filled time. On Friday, April 26th Jerry passed away suddenly.

As a friend of Jerry's, the first qualities that come to mind is his incredible kindness and generosity. Jerry was the friend that would drop anything to help you, celebrate your accomplishments, and quick to brighten tough days with a joke. Jerry truly cared about his friends and family; he remembered the little things. He would email you job postings if you said you wanted a new job, he would check in if you said you had a stressful week or pick up a beer if you mentioned you liked it.

Jerry's kindness and true passion for making a difference carried into his career. Jerry was a special education teacher in the Boston Public School System. He chose to advocate for those with disabilities knowing he could help provide them with life skills. He met his students where they were and cheered them on in their achievements. Jerry's goal for his students was to help them live independent and fulfilling lives.

While Jerry was an incredible friend and teacher, he truly shined as a husband and father. He loved his wife, Liza, beyond words and the two had so many hopes and dreams for their life ahead of them. Over the past few years, the two bought a house together and turned that house into a home when they started their family. The couple have two adorable children- Molly (3) and Jack (1). Jerry loved being a father and was the most patient and loving dad a child could ask for. His family came first- he was their rock, their support, their advocate and their best friend. A true family man. Jerry was taken way too soon on April 26, 2024. The impact that his passing has had on the lives of his friends and family is completely devastating.

Jerry and Liza's friends know that navigating the death of a husband is unimaginable. Grieving the loss of the love of your life while raising two small children is a difficult journey. Our hope is to help raise money to assist with the unplanned and immediate expenses that come with such a tragic passing and to help their children, Molly and Jack. As friends of Jerry and Liza it only seems fitting to honor Jerry by supporting his family during this difficult time. The support you give is very much appreciated.

Thank you.
