Help Jerry & family make it through Stage 4 cancer

My name is Jerry Ouellette, Father to two amazing kids, one is in the Air Force, stationed in New Jersey, and a 15 year old girl who lives with me full time. To say i am blessed is an understatement. Being a Father has been my greatest joy , and one that I will continue to cherish for years to come. However, i have a long road ahead.

On October 9th, at Gastroenterology of Greater Orlando, i found out i am in the fight of my life, one I know I will win. During the colonoscopy, they found close to 100 polyps and one tumor roughly 9 cm in the sigmoid colon. The tumor was sent off to be tested and came back T4, invasive colinic adenocarcinoma. To make matters worse, i was also diagnosed with FAP or Familial adenomatous polyposis. A rare disease. The symptoms started in 2017 but at that time was diagnosed with ulcercolitis. So the fact i am even here today being humbled asking for help is truly a blessing from God, because FAP even a year not being treated is problematic.

I then was seen immediately by Advent health's elite colorectal team, led by Dr.Mattgew Albert, who I owe my life to besides God, and on November 9th, the decision was made to remove the entire colon , rectum, and perform an ostomy to give me a better chance at survival. The surgery was a great success, left the hospital on the 14th and i am still adjusting to the changes but doing much better. The colon weighed almost 20 pounds and was far more diseased than expected.

Although 84 lymph nodes were removed and tested, which all came back negative for cancer, which is truly a miracle, an MRI detected 4 masses on my liver. Too small to biopsy, yet to risky to leave. It was at that time I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer, and i am starting chemotherapy on December 11th, 2 days after my birthday for 3 months, then liver surgery when they perform radio frequency alblation.

For anyone who knows me, they would tell you i have a hard time asking for help from anyone. I am prideful, and i always try to do things on my own. However, between medical treatment, supplies, medication, and time loss at work, it's become increasingly hard to keep up and provide me and my daughter. So to say I am humbled is an understatement!

Through this process, i never said, "Why me." There are so many people that are dealing with far worse things than I, and i consider myself so blessed that i am still here fighting the good fight and everyday is a true blessing from God. The doctors have been incredible, my family, church family, everyone.

I also realize I can't do this alone. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I will also take as many prayers as I can because the power of prayer in numbers is exactly what I need to beat this. Thank you all so much, and God bless. I will write my own story, i won't let cancer win , and in 6 months i will ring that bell and say thank you to all my doctors and drop to my knees and thank god for the miracle he is about to perform on me!
