JESB - JAMAL EDWARDS SELF BELIEF TRUST
Donation protected
The Jamal Edwards Self-Belief Trust has been set up to support the causes that mattered most to Jamal and to honour his wishes. Jamal was passionate about empowering youth and providing the next generation with life skills and opportunities to maximise their potential.
Short Term Objectives
JESBT’s two key initiatives are:
An apprenticeship programme primarily within the media and entertainment industry for young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity
Homeless intervention for 16 – 21 year olds
Long Term Objectives
The long-term goal for the apprenticeship programme is to create a JESBT Academy – a safe space for young people to meet and develop skills across performance, production, audio-visual and content creation giving them the best possible platform to springboard into an apprenticeship, full-time work or career.
We will tackle youth homelessness in partnership with Centrepoint (https://centrepoint.org.uk) and through JESB Sanctuaries. Each Sanctuary will provide accommodation for a minimum of 12 months for foster care leavers, young homeless people or those at risk of homelessness, provide training and support into permanent accommodation and work, with the Sanctuary project often working in tandem with the internship programme and Academy
Jamal’s home town, Acton will launch the first Academy and Sanctuary, with the long-term goal of the Trust to establish Academies and Sanctuaries across the UK
