Jess and Bella's 1 mile an hour for 24 hours
What are we doing?
On the 8th-9th May, we will be running a mile an hour for 24 hours (from 5am to 5am). Running 24 miles in total. We will be inviting some people to run a mile with us so look out for photos!
Why have we chosen Student Minds?
Before coming to university neither of us were very aware of mental health issues but we have come to realise its prevalence amongst young people and that many people suffer in silence. By choosing Student Minds, we want to help reduce the stigma around this topic, make sure people have the help they need and also make sure everyone is educated on how to support those struggling with their mental health.
What do Student Minds do?
Student Minds is a charity that aims to empower students and members of the university community to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to look after their own mental health, support others, and create change, so that all in higher education can thrive. They want to ensure that students have access to timely, youth-friendly support and resources. They focus on prevention, ensuring that more young people learn how to build their own wellbeing toolkit.
How you can help…
We would really appreciate any kind of donation, however big or small! It would be great too if you could get the word around, like and share this post and our GoFundMe page!
Our target
Any donation big or small would be so greatly appreciated! We have a target of £400 but hope to exceed this! Not only is our target to raise this money but it is also to increase awareness around mental health, to get people talking about their own mental health and to emphasise that it is ok not to be ok. We don’t want anyone to suffer in silence so if we can do our part to get this conversation started then we will have achieved our goal!
