Jesse Thayer: A life well-lived.
Donation protected
Greetings All,
It is with a heavy heart that I launch this fundraising campaign for my dear friend and colleague, Jesse Thayer. As some of you may already know, Jesse has been fighting cancer courageously for over three years. Sadly, this dreadful disease is closing in on our beloved friend. Jesse continues to inspire me every day and those of you fortunate enough to know him are familiar with his overwhelming positivity and sincere willingness to help someone in need. It is now our time to return the favor — a small gesture for a life well-lived.
Donated funds will assist with living expenses, wedding costs, in-home healthcare, and assorted end-of-life planning.
I have included a note from Jesse's fiancé, Kathy Vincent, below. Any assistance one can offer is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless.
"Hey Ryan,
I’m reaching out for financial support. Jesse and I have some expenses happening at the moment that will probably wipe our bank accounts clean. Jesse stopped receiving paid medical leave in December and has no other source of income. At this time I’m on my 2nd week of PFML, which makes my income about 65% or less of what it is normally. We are planning to get married on the 24th of February, and although we thought to have a small, short, cheap wedding, our families want to make it an event, I could probably afford this, but unfortunately, in a very short time, we will be paying for in-home healthcare/assistance (not covered by hospice), and sadly, Jesse’s end-of-life arrangements. I don’t know anything about planning a funeral, but I do know it’s pricey, and Jesse has no life insurance plan or hidden nest eggs. For the last three + years Jesse and I have rented an apartment in VH. We live with just the two of us in a very small space, a space I could only share with someone intimately. It’s hard to imagine (when Jesse’s gone) getting a roommate when there’s only one bedroom and 300 sq ft of living space. Rent is not cheap, it’s more than 1/2 my regular monthly income. Also, I will most likely not be able to continue to pay for Jesse’s truck going forward, so they will come and take that away, and none of this is what Jesse wants. I just wish some of the monetary stress could be relieved, this is the hardest thing the two of us have ever been through, and knowing I’m going to have to go on without him is breaking me. Jesse has fought so hard and stayed so strong this whole time, I am trying so hard to stay strong for him now because he needs me to be. I walk away to cry because I don’t want him to think he’s hurting me but it does hurt, and every day it hurts more than the day before to have to see this disease eat him up little by little. So if there’s anyone out there that wants to help, we will need it and we’ll need it sooner than later.
Thanks for all your help,
Kathy"
