Jesse's 2024 NYC Marathon with BBBS NYC
Tax deductible
I am excited to announce that I have been given the opportunity to run the 2024 New York City Marathon (my first!) on Sunday, November 3 on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of New York City. My goal is to raise $3,500 for the organization and I hope you can join me in making a difference.
**update - after reaching $3,500 in 24 hours, why not raise more for an incredible cause?**
After cheering on the runners (and friends) every year and many attempts to try and run the NYC Marathon through the lottery, I'm glad that I have the opportunity to run to raise money for BBBS. Over the past year I have been able to see first hand the impact the organization makes on numerous kids across the city.
I joined BBBS last year and was matched with my little, Wylie. We've had countless adventures around the city from pottery classes, to museum visits, to trying new cuisines. He is the sweetest kid imaginable and he reminds me of the importance of having fun and being a kid at heart.
Brothers Big Sisters of New York City (BBBS of NYC) is the nation’s first and the city's largest youth mentoring organization. Every dollar I raise is tax-deductible and will directly contribute to matching more children with caring mentors, providing educational resources, and fostering positive life-changing relationships. Together, we can empower these young minds, offering them opportunities they may not have otherwise had. Any donation is very much appreciated by me and the kids!
I am also running in honor of my late father, Philip Shapiro, who despite his best efforts, never got a chance to complete the NYC Marathon. At 35 years old (the same age as I am now), my dad received a spot and was training for the NYC Marathon but a knee injury prevented him from completing it. I am running to finish the race that he wasn’t able to finish.
Thanks for taking the time to read, and I'll see you all in New York City come November!
