Hi, I'm Michael Williams, husband to Jessica Williams.

In 2017, my wife's ability to hear started to decline. Over time it only became worse and worse until she could only hear words and most noises with the help of a very powerful hearing aid. Luckily, she was able to get a free hearing aid from Indiana back in 2017. This allowed her to barely get by with her job, and she was able to still participate in quiet direct conversations.

However, after being without her hearing for nearly 7 years now, she's been struggling in life. Being out in the public alone makes her very anxious as she has trouble understanding what people are saying to her. At gatherings, she feels like she frustrates people trying to talk to her when she asks them to repeat themselves. Her current hearing aids allow her to survive, but they're not enough to allow her to truly "live".

In the time since getting those hearing aids, many advancements have been made in hearing aid technology. These current hearing aids are highly outdated, and her audiologist recommended brand new ones that could help her hear better in different noise levels including a car or a restaurant. With bluetooth, these new hearing aids could also connect to her phone, allowing her to feel confident in making and answering phone calls. These advancements can truly start a new chapter of confidence and rediscovered joy as the simple things such as hearing birds chirp in the morning could be back in her life.

However, her insurance will not cover a single cent of these new hearing aids. This is unthinkable given how important hearing is to our lives, but this is the hand we are dealt. My wife and I have to bear the cost of these new hearing aids ourselves. The estimate we were given was $6800 to get both of them.

I understand that with the increasing costs of just about everything makes giving difficult, but even a small amount would mean so much to us. All money raised will be put towards a down payment on the hearing aids.
