Jessica Gurley & Family
Donation protected
Hi there! My name is Rachel. I've started this GoFundMe for my Best Friend of 28 years. Jessi & I met in 8th grade in a lil' town called Ramona, Northeast of San Diego. We went to a mutual friends sleepover where we bonded over Dixie Chick's & Mustard, & have been friends ever since. She is so much more than a best friend now...she is FAMILY.
We've grown up together over the years & have always been there for each other. Eight years ago Jessi & her family moved to Texas to start a new adventure. That adventure has brought her a Hair Salon, a Partner, a Dog, a Kitten, Chickens, a Home of her own, but also Maris gained 2 siblings!
Not only is she one of the most hard working people I know, she's an amazing person/friend/sister/daughter, and a talented Hair Stylist who owns her own salon. Her most important job out of the many hats she wears- is being a Mommy to 3 beautiful kids w/ a 4th on the way. Her 2nd son is due October 30th, just right around the corner! And here is why she needs all the love & support right now. Especially financially. She is the kind of person who is so independent that she would never ask for help like this, from anyone...And has never had to. But we desperately need to help her....
On Saturday Sep 17th, at 8 months pregnant, Jessi slipped while getting out of the shower and her right ankle just snapped in half basically. Luckily, she prevented herself from falling on her baby bump, and her unborn Son is not harmed. She was in excruciating pain almost immediately, and was rushed to the hospital via ambulance where she was given sedation via epidural to decrease the stress the pain was causing to her & her unborn baby boy. When they did an MRI they found that she has a Bilateral break in 3 places & dislocation of her RIGHT ankle. Yes, you read that right. My 8 months pregnant Bestie broke her driving foot/ankle!
Not only does this break in her ankle need immediate surgery, it is now a very complicated situation as she is 8 months pregnant. They cannot perform surgery while she is pregnant due to the position she would need to be in to perform the surgery.
She is also the sole provider for her family. Her children's father lost his job 2 months ago and she has used up the last of her savings providing for them. She was only planning on taking 4 weeks off for maternity leave, bc that's all she could afford to take. But now with this accident it has pushed up her due date and her Orthopedic Surgeon wants to perform surgery this coming week. Leaving the plans she had made to work and save for the time off, completely impossible. But her OBGYN does not want her to have surgery till the baby has arrived, so he plans on inducing her at 37 weeks. Not only is this break so bad, but she currently is back in the emergency room as her ankle has dislocated once again! Placing her in extreme constant pain. They have given her another nerve blocker to re-set the ankle, while she awaits to hear back from her OBGYN.
Because she is her own boss & doesn't work for anyone but herself, when she doesn't work-no money is made. As many of you know, when you own your own business, there's no sick time or vacation days accrued to use to pay the bills. Nor is there any person to take over your position for you as back up. She is her own boss/employee. She's the sole provider & caretaker for her 3 children. All of which she cannot drive them to school or pick up the groceries, stand to cook dinner, or even go to the bathroom without help right now. You can imagine the pain she is in while carrying another tiny human inside of her using crutches just to stand up. Heck, she can't drive period until her cast will be taken off in 3-4 months! The amount of stress this is causing her, I'm concerned she will go into early labor. She is more focused on the stress this is causing her & her family financially, than being able to have peace of mind that the bills are paid so that she can focus on healing and getting better. This situation will not be a simple fix, but helping her with her bills and keeping her babies fed while she has surgery and heals over the next 3 months would be the biggest blessing. I would like to raise enough money to be able to give her atleast 5 months off work.
If anyone of you have ever been a friend to Jessi and can spare any amount, this would help her & her children in ways that you can't possibly imagine. Not only is this situation happening at the worst time for her but it's imperative that she is stress free; for her unborn baby's health & for her surgery to go as smoothly as possible.
These donations would indeed do just that. Being in California makes it so hard to be there to help my best friend. And that is why I'm asking all of you for your help. If I can raise funds to help keep her lights on and water running I will do just that.
If you looked up the definition of friend it would have Jessi's photo underneath it. She has been there for me in every way a best friend should be. Especially, when I needed her the most. Now it's my turn and I pray that you find it in your hearts to help me raise funds for my Bestie in Texas. Your donations would help prevent her & her kids from becoming homeless. Providing her children with all normal necessities they would need in the coming cold winter months in Texas. Whether it's for snow clothes, diapers or pajamas, to paying the water bill, auto insurance and all that comes with life itself. It would also pay for a plane ticket so that I can fly out there and take care of her & her kids & to help with anything and everything that her beautiful family needs. Thank you for taking the time to read about Jessica's situation & thank you for any amount donated. Any penny helps. I will post updates regarding her condition and what is going in the coming months.
