Jessica and Dexter received devastating news this week that is difficult to share.
While awaiting the start of treatment and undergoing further investigations; it was discovered on a PET scan that Jessica's cancer has progressed to Stage 4 and has metastasized to her bones. The oncology team determined that her cancer is no longer curable; and have changed her treatment plan to that of palliative approach.
She is set to begin radiation treatment next week followed by chemotherapy; with a goal to shrink the tumors and extend her life as long as possible.
Jessica is a fighter and will not give up so easily. As a single mom of a young son with Autism, every moment counts. Every opportunity is one that has to be explored. In this battle, she is trying to not only take care of herself, but also care for Dexter to the fullest extent possible.
She is in the process of being referred to the Mayo Clinic to pursue any possible alternate treatments including clinical trials with the hope that she can be by Dexter's side as long as possible.
There is a 1% chance of survival; Jessica and Dexter need a miracle. Funds donated will allow Jessica to focus her time and energy on fighting this; and will help to pay for her to exhaust any possible treatment options. Applying to the Mayo Clinic comes with significant additional costs as she will require travel, accommodations and treatment. Please help Jessica in this fight for her life!
My name is Laura Ogden and as a classmate of Jessica's, I personally have seen how formidable she is to negotiate with. I am acting only as an organizer and all donations are going to Jessica as the beneficiary of this fundraiser. Our job is to give as much love and support to Jessica and Dexter for as long as we can.
