Please help Jessica Jenkins!

Hey everyone! My name is Greg, and my daughter Jessica needs help.

Jessie is a mom to 3 amazing boys, an amazing wife to my wonderful son-in-law David, and truly one of the most amazing human beings on this planet…without a doubt.

In 2016, Jessie began experiencing excruciating pain in her pelvis and lower abdomen. She was referred to a specialist here in Ontario, and he truly did all that he could for her…with the resources that he had and within the time constraints that OHIP had in place. And so, the surgery that was required for Jessie was determined to take no less than 36 - 42 months from the date that her specialist recommended…(maybe as long as 48 months) here in Ontario. Believe me when I tell you…no human being should have to wait that long and endure the pain that she has…when they are in such excruciating pain and there is no way out. It’s inhumane. I’ve watched my daughter tumble downhill over the past years. Her quality of life is a fraction of what it was. Pain is a daily visitor that steals her life away…from her children….from her husband…and from her. But Jessie puts on a brave face…everyday…and somehow goes about being the best that she can be…truly selfless. Jessie’s pain tolerance is that of a Navy Seal, and she “sucks it up “ and soldiers on every day. But I see the toll it takes…and I know that she’s struggling beyond anything that you or I could ever imagine.

My heart aches because I want her to be well again…to be the bubbly and energetic Jessie that she was before. But now…everyone…all of us….we do everything we can to help her deal with the pain. But it’s not enough. Her specialist recognized the urgency of performing the surgery and suggested that we go out of country. He recommended a doctor in Scottsdale Arizona who specializes in EXACTLY what Jessie is experiencing, and after a consultation with him…it was determined that Jessie would benefit immensely from the truly life changing surgery that he recommended and was able to perform. In addition, she could have the surgery within weeks…not years. And so, we booked the surgery based upon the quote that we were given by the specialist in Scottsdale. It wasn’t cheap…and we expected that. We agreed to the cost of the surgery, which unbeknownst to us…was the cost of the SURGERY ONLY, and NOT the cost of the Operating Room at Honor Health Hospital.

So, 2 weeks before the surgery date, I received a call informing us that the cost of the Operating Room would be $102,000 USD!!! After several days of negotiation, I was able to get the the cost of the O.R. down to $16, 352 USD. And then, they told us that the anesthesiologist was an additional $1,500 USD. It felt like a punch to the stomach and I’d have to break the news to Jessie that we simply couldn’t afford to get the surgery. But, the more I spoke to our friends, our family, and our co-workers…they told us…WE WILL HELP.

And so, I ask you…as a Dad…doing everything in my power to help his baby girl…if you can help….please do. I am forever grateful if you can. But if you can’t, that’s okay too…just pass it on.
