Jessica Stanley Memorial Fundraiser

Jessica Shalayne Stanley passed away on 7/5/22 at age 34 after a two-year battle with cancer. We are seeking to raise funds on behalf of her parents Natasha and Roy for her homegoing service and burial and to care for her 8-year-old son Elijah.

 

Jessica was born on 3/22/88 (the basis of our fundraising goal) in Charleston, South Carolina, and grew up with music and God in her heart. She attended Beaufort High School in Beaufort, SC, and then lived overseas for three years, graduating from HH Arnold High in Germany. She attended UNC Charlotte for two years and worked for DeCa in the commissary. Most recently, she worked at T-Mobile, where she achieved several awards for her performance, even during her on-going cancer treatment.

 

Jessica was diagnosed in July of 2019 with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and was told she had mere months to live. She stayed the course through several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, a double mastectomy, and spinal surgery with the support of her family. She was encouraged by Elijah's favorite verse- Jeremiah 32:12, "There is nothing too hard for the Lord to do."

 

Jessica's biggest passions were the Lord, her family, and music. She served on the worship team at Motivation Church in Richmond where she was known for her lovely singing voice and her powerful testimony. In the picture below, she sang with the worship team from her recovery bed after spinal surgery.

 

 

 

 

 

Jessica is survived by her mother, Natasha Gibbs; her stepfather, Leroy Gibbs; her brothers Ashbe (Emily) Stanley and Avery (Jaelin) Gibbs; her son, Elijah Stanley; her nephews, Amari Gibbs and Xavior Stanley; and a large extended family that will miss her greatly.

 

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16th, 2022, at 12:30pm.
