Jessica Stefanowicz Memorial Tree Planting
Donation protected
DEEP friends: As an ongoing way to remember our dear friend and colleague Jessica Stefanowicz, we are working with staff at Dinosaur State Park to coordinate the planting of a new tree in their arboretum in memory of Jessica.
As many of you know, Jessica was a frequent visitor at Dinosaur State Park both during her volunteer May Day park clean-up efforts as well as spending time with her family exploring the museum and nature trails. Dinosaur SP has an arboretum that is focused on tree species that existed during the Jurassic Era, such as ginkgoes, magnolias, katsuras, and other similar flora. The park is working to add additional trees to the arboretum.
We have set up a GoFundMe page to help raise the funds to pay for one of the tree plantings along with a corresponding plaque that will either be placed near the tree or indoors on the wall in the museum portion of the building.
The cost for the tree, small plaque and planting is $750. The money raised through this donation will be sent to the Friends of Dinosaur State Park and Arboretum, who is a non-profit organization that will coordinate the donation with the park staff.
We are looking at a possible fall planting (depending on the tree variety) or most likely Spring of 2022.
