Jessica Wick's Injury Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hello! I’m a bookseller, writer, and artist in a small town. If you’ve ever enjoyed my services, happen to like me, or simply feel generous, please consider donating to this GoFundMe.
It exists because I was injured while walking to work the morning of February 26th—badly enough that I’ve been on crutches since, and still can’t put any weight on my injured knee/leg.
Doctor’s orders are to stay off my feet as much as possible and to work remotely until further notice. After an MRI and another follow-up, these orders haven't changed, though now we know why I'm out of commission: A fracture and bad bone bruising. The good news is no surgery is needed, but the bad news is this is still a hardship.
Unfortunately, my work is mostly an in-person affair and there isn’t much remote work for me; furthermore, I mostly live paycheck to paycheck without PTO. I don't drive and my main mode of transport is my legs! By my next doctor's appointment in mid-April, at which point I'll know what the next steps are and hopefully be healed enough to take "next steps," I'll have missed nearly two months of work.
So this GoFundMe will go to help pay bills like rent ($1100), phone ($100), internet ($65), groceries ($100-200), utilities ($55-125), any surprise medical bills (?????) insurance doesn't fully cover, etc.
Thank you so much for helping in whatever way you can, whether it’s signal-boosting or a couple of dollars! Both mean the world to me.
Edited to add: Goal has been shifted up at friends' insistence to better account for the bills I listed here. Heh. Anything I raise that's more than the goal will go into savings/as a cushion.
Edited to add: Ack! Wah! As I was typing the above edit, I dared to look at where I was at and and and incomprehensible sounds of appreciation insert here! Everybody's already been so incredible and generous and I am completely, utterly touched/grateful. I can feel some of my stress sluicing away. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
