Jessica Zalewski - Miss Illinois USA
To all of my friends and family, I am so excited to announce that I will be competing for the title of Miss Illinois USA 2021 on March 28th of next year. Years ago I competed for Miss Illinois Teen USA and for years I have watched the system change hundreds of women’s lives. After following this pageant for my entire life, I have decided I am ready to compete again for the Miss Illinois USA title.
Over the past few years, I have been inspired to share my voice and fight for those who don’t have one. I have gained motivation from my peers and mentors because they were who gave me a voice of reason when I did not have one. But most importantly, I have gained knowledge through DePaul and my own initiative to learn more about making an impact on real world problems.
Miss Illinois is a highly accredited position that can catapult my platform and jumpstart my career as a social entrepreneur and social justice advocate. My current platforms and ideas for change are rooted in mental health awareness and criminal justice reform. These two social issues weigh heavy on my heart and I believe that with the opportunity of becoming Miss Illinois USA, I will be able to positively impact those at risk.
It would be an incredible honor to be crowned with this title and responsibility. Making a greater impact on the world has always been my goal despite my changes in career paths. Just as any other endeavor worth going after, it takes an initial investment. I realize it is incredibly difficult to find ways to give in these hard times. However, if there is any way you would be willing to help it would be greatly appreciated. Help can mean $5-10 or a lead to a potential business that might be able to donate! The great news about businesses donating to this cause is that it can be written off on their taxes as a marketing expense. This is because donating businesses will be promoted in the event’s program book.

The entry fee is $495 and the required advertisement page is $800. If there is additional money donated after that it would still be directly used to fund my efforts in winning the pageant. Beauty pageants are often mistaken for picking the most beautiful woman on stage, but that is far from the truth. The winner of the pageant is the woman who presents themselves the most beautifully. Therefore, any additional money would be directly used to fund further requirements that relate to competing. I promise your investment will be put to proper use.
Finally, I would just like to say, I am humbled that you have taken the time to read this and my loyalty is always with those who are in it with me for the long haul. Even if it takes me 5 years to win, I will never forget your efforts in helping me! I’m very excited to make my friends, my family, and my hometown proud. Wish me luck!
