Jessica's Fight with IVF-Ovarian Cancer

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Jessica Berkich and I am asking for donations on behalf of my best friend, Jessica Walenter. If you are one of the lucky ones who know her... well then you know. She is the most caring, loving and compassionate person around.

Four years ago, at the age of 25, she was rushed to the ER with sever abdominal pain and thought they found a cyst. She was scheduled to have surgery to remove the cyst, which ended up actually being a rare form of Ovarian Cancer called an Immature Teratoma. After having multiple surgeries she was left with only one ovary. She battled cancer for a year before being told she was in remission.

Having only one ovary, Jessica knew it would be more of a challenge to become a mother, but she still had high chances to make her dream become a reality. When she met her husband, Jake, they were eager to start a family.

In June she had a set back when they found a mass on her pelvis and tumor on her ovary. Concerned this was a reoccurrence, Jessica's oncologist scheduled her for surgery. They took out her mass, the tumor on her ovary, her appendix and gallbladder. She spent days in the hospital recovering from this surgery. Unfortunately, this surgery left her with a damaged fallopian tube which is preventing her from having her own child naturally. As you can imagine, Jessica has spent thousands of dollars paying for these surgeries, constant doctors visits and medications.

As you may know, IVF is an extremely expensive treatment and her insurance doesn't cover it. Jessica is already working on paying off her medical bills from her last surgery and the cost of IVF is putting her in more debt. She forged having a big wedding and had a small ceremony in a friends back yard so she could pay off more of her medical debt.

Jessica has never dreamt of anything more than to be a mother. It is a challenge for her to ask anyone for help , which is why I am asking for help. She has been through so much emotionally and financially, especially since the age of 25.

Her body keeps growing these teratomas and her oncologist is  recommending a full hysterectomy. She plans to start the IVF process at the end of October 2020. She has fought so hard over the past four years and deserves to finally have something go right.

I please ask you to donate what you can to help my best friends dream come true.
