Jessica’s Breast cancer battle
https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jessicabondi
Jessica is an amazing mother, wife, teacher, daughter, sister, and friend. This is her cancer story. From Jessica : “I'm not sure how to ask people for help, because I've never needed to before and hate asking for it. Phil(husband) hates it worse than I do, but the reality is, we're both teachers and parents and cannot afford the extra expense right now, especially if I have to take unpaid leave due to COVID-19. My official diagnosis was May 21st , 2020. Stage 1B Grade 3 Double Negative HER2 Positive Breast Cancer. It is a very aggressive cancer that got into my blood supply. With in weeks of my diagnosis I was set up for surgery to have a double mastectomy. After surgery, pathology reports of the tumor were positive meaning the cancer cells were present in all of the tissue that was removed including the skin tissue and there are most likely cancer cells left over on my skin surrounding the tissue. This is the reason I need chemo therapy followed by radiation. I guess it's very rare that the surgeon can't remove all the cancer cells in a mastectomy, but my cancer was also in the skin.”
What’s next?
Jessica and Phil would like to try and have another child. Jessica has started chemotherapy treatments that will continue for The next several months followed by radiation then more chemo. She will have another surgery to remove the port that was placed for chemo and wait to see if her ovaries are functioning. If two years go by After she is finished with treatment and the cancer has not returned, She will be medically cleared to try for a pregnancy. Prior to starting chemo Jessica went through aggressive hormone therapy in order to try for fertility treatment. Jessica has a long road ahead of her. The medical bills have already started to pile up. On behalf of our Dear friend I, Jessica Dobson and Sara Weber are requesting your thoughts and prayers for Jessica Bondi.
