Jessica's Urgent MRI: cancer & Aid

For the past eight years, my sister Jessica has quietly carried a heavy burden—a tumor in her leg that has only grown larger and more painful over time. As a mother of two young children, Jessica put her family first, always pushing through her own discomfort to care for her kids and manage the daily responsibilities of life. She tried to ignore the tumor, hoping it would somehow resolve on its own. But as the years passed, the pain became too much to ignore.

Finally, after years of living with uncertainty, Jessica went to the doctor. After an examination and some tests, the doctor shared a concerning possibility: the tumor could be cancerous, specifically a sarcoma. The doctor explained that if left untreated, sarcoma can spread to other parts of the body, which made it crucial for her to get further tests and start treatment as soon as possible.

The next step was an MRI, which could provide more clarity. Jessica was referred to an oncologist, but there was one more obstacle standing in the way: although Jessica recently received insurance, her plan won’t cover the cost of the MRI. The financial burden is overwhelming, especially with two children to care for and so many unknowns ahead.
