Jessie's emergency hospitalization
Donation protected
In 2020, after Matt Clingman completed a mission trip to Haiti, the Clingman family became aware of a teenager in Haiti named Jessica Toussaint who had been orphaned and was living in an unsafe area. They began sponsoring her from afar, with plans to bring her to the US and make her part of their family. After much waiting, prayer, and planning, in October 2023, Jessie was able to move to Ohio. She has been working hard and making lots of progress in learning to speak English, and she plans to start nursing school in the fall.
On March 15, Jessie became ill and was ultimately diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary emboli, blood clots in both lungs, which was putting strain on her heart. She was transferred from Mercy Willard ER to Saint Rita's in Lima. She is hospitalized there and will undergo a procedure to remove the blood clots. As she is a parolee from another country and here on a work visa, and also not officially adopted into the Clingman family since she is not a minor, Jessie is not eligible for Medicaid or Matt's health insurance. Her hospitalization, transfer from one hospital to another, and procedure will result in very significant medical cost to the family. Matt, Jackie, and Jessie are grateful for anything you can donate!
Please also keep Jessie in your prayers during this scary time. It is truly a blessing that this happened to her here in the states rather than in Haiti, where chances are high that she may not have survived these clots.
