Jesslyn Davies and Family

Jesslyn is an amazing person. Always the type of person to put others' needs first, she has a great sense of humour, she is kindhearted, a wonderful wife to Pete, and an amazing mother to her boys, Will (6), Nate (4) and their big dog, Gnarls Barkley (11). She was born and raised in Lacombe Alberta and has found a home for herself in Calgary where the family has been for the past 7 years. Jesslyn has made a career out of caring for those in need, working as a Nurse in many different capacities, most recently caring for patients in the community and in homes. She has a love for the outdoors and fills her spare time with camping and hiking although these days she can often be found inside, chasing the boys from one hockey rink to another.
In December 2020, Jesslyn found a lump in her breast that drastically changed the course of her, and her family’s, life. She was soon diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer and her treatment protocols began with the hope that they had caught it early and she would be successful in her battle with the cancer. After a year-long fight with the help of Chemotherapy, surgery, radiation and a final round of oral chemo, Jesslyn was found to be cancer free and set on her path to recovery. During that recovery, she entered into a clinical trial for a new breast cancer drug, the purpose of which to determine if the drug was successful in preventing a reemergence of cancer in the body. During the pre-trial assessment, she was given a scan in April 2022 in which Jesslyn was given the tragic news that the cancer had come back aggressively and had metastasized and spread into her lungs. She soon started an aggressive course of 2 different Chemotherapies as well as an experimental Immunotherapy treatment that had shown promising results in clinical trials. After 3 months of treatment, Jesslyn had a scan showing that there was tumour shrinkage giving her, the family, and everyone else hope that this treatment protocol could be the cure for her. Unfortunately, after another 3 months, a devastating follow-up scan in late November 2022 revealed that the cancer had spread aggressively. Surgery is not an option because of the pervasiveness of the tumours so the best course of action, that Jesslyn has started, is a new type of chemo treatment along with radiation and pain management in hopes to overcome the aggressiveness of the cancer.
The Davies’ are not the type of people to ask for help or attention and have commented that they would be able to figure things out financially, but I know I speak for everyone when I say that we would love for them to not have to figure things out. Jesslyn has worked in a limited capacity over the past 2 years and hasn’t worked since the summer of 2022, and the least we can do is give the family the gift of not having to stress about finances in this difficult time. Jesslyn has made a career out of caring for others in need and it's time for us to turn the tables. I was able to get their approval to create this page after some initial hesitation and anything that you can contribute to the family would be greatly appreciated by the Davies’ and all who are in their corner. Aside from financial support, prepared meals would be another much appreciated gift. Thank you so so much for your consideration and support. Say a prayer for Jesslyn and the family.
With Love.
