Jete Youth Dance Projects

Donation protected
We are based in County Roscommon, Ireland with dancers aged 12-24 from surrounding counties but open to all of the counties when we audition! Everyone is ballet trained and we also train in contemporary, Jazz, Tap dance and African Dance and we plan to extend styles further, we hope to work with many other teachers and choreographers in the future.

In 2019 I set up the Jete Youth Group as part of a collaboration with The Mayo Youth Orchestra to perform extracts of the Nutcracker. We hosted 2 international professional dances, Leigh Alderson from Northern Ireland and Ayumi Maezawa from Japan, the evening was a huge success.

Our young people are all from mixed backgrounds and at present all attend dance training outside of the group, however, our all-inclusive approach will enable us to work with other non-dance youth groups, making the experience mutually beneficial to all participants.

Like everything all costs money so any donations are appreciated so much but we also thank you if you cannot make donations for your support perhaps coming to see one of our future projects.

Cultivating Character and Empowering People through Dance”

MISSION:
To inspire and cultivate appreciation and love of dance and performance by providing quality experiences, superb performances and collaboration with other organisations including youth orchestras, visual artists, authors and craft workers.

VALUES:
Teamwork
Integrity
Growth-Minded
Excellence
Respect

Our passion and expectation by setting up Jete Youth Dance, one that exposes young people to all genres of dance and performance, non-syllabus and free expression work that had no boundaries due to financial, creed, sexual orientation, location and race to name a few. I am based in Carrick on Shannon and Boyle in Co Roscommon. I have pupils from 6 counties in the West of Ireland.

We will be seeking opportunities to expose participants to as many styles as we can where quality and not quantity is important.

Our space had to be relinquished during lockdown but we do still have our sprung floor ready for when we can relocate, hopefully early 2022. In between we have halls in the area that can be used.

Our offering at first will be Artistic Director and Choreographer driven. Eventually mutually agreed work, 360-degree approach will be incorporated. A huge offering will be “Hope” as the arts have taken such a hammering in their standing recently.

To attract applications there will be social media, local radio, school visits, web page, professional organisation advertising, youth club reach out etc as per our marketing plan once established.

Like all dance the organisation will blossom from within and take an effective and meaningful journey.

The need for such a group is more important than ever to assist with the mental and physical fitness they need.
