My name is Jewel Fletcher. I am a Freshman at Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology majoring in Aircraft Operations (BS).
Fewer than 1% of airline pilots in the United States are black women. I have experienced significant obstacles as a young child. Still, my story is about victory and a vision - to be a young black female pilot in a male-dominated industry is a great challenge that I am determined to accomplish.
Since I was 12 years old I've had this. Coming from a single-parent household funding my education has been tough on both my mother and me. However, with the generosity of kind souls, my goal would surely be attainable.
