Jewelry and Glass Shop at Lowell Makes!

Tax deductible
Would you LOVE to learn jewelry making, stained glass, or fused glass?
Help Lowell Makes, your local 501(c)(3) non-profit community makerspace, make it happen!

After 10 years of providing education and access to an ever growing number of creative shops for our members as well as the Greater Lowell community, we have now set our sights on a new, specialized studio to explore, teach, and learn jewelry and glass arts. Our goal is to offer the equipment, tools, classes, and community around:

  • Jewelry-making techniques such as soldering, texturing, beading, stone setting, chain, and rings
  • Creating with Precious Metal Clay (a unique moldable clay containing silver and fired in a kiln)
  • Making leaded and copper foil stained glass art
  • Kiln-based traditional stained glass painting, fused, and slumped glass objects
  • Exploring ways to combine these complementary arts, such as crafting a glass pendant using jewelry techniques

We have the perfect space and an experienced team to bring this shop to life. Our dedicated Jewelry & Glass team includes:

  • Karen Christians - Member of Lowell Makes, Founder of Metalwerx and the jewelry shop at Artisan's Asylum, studio member of Western Avenue, professional artist consulting on shop design, tool acquisition, and curriculum development.
  • Lynn Desmarais - Chair of Membership Committee at Lowell Makes, metalsmithing enthusiast, and project manager.
  • Sam Burdett - Former President of Lowell Makes, experienced stained glass artist, and driving force behind purchasing our 26,000 sq. ft. historic mill building in 2020.
  • Roberta Bizier - Member of Lowell Makes, and experienced artist consulting on fused glass methods and materials.

We need your support to make the Jewelry and Glass Studio a success. Your tax-deductible donation will help us purchase jewelry benches, soldering equipment, industrial ventilation, a rolling mill, hand tools such as files and pliers, a large kiln, and more.

Please donate to Lowell Makes and help us build this brand-new, exciting jewelry and glass shop in our space. We are excited for you to join us in learning and exploring these fascinating crafts!

Lowell Makes, located in Lowell, MA, is a Makerspace with open workshops where members can collaborate to learn, share, and hone crafts of all kinds.
