Joe "Joey" Jackson's cancer journey
Donation protected
Last month fellow Veteran Joe "Joey" Jackson III was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lymphoma in his neck. This is also known as Head and Neck Cancer. He recently started Chemo & Radiation treatments. There is a very long road ahead. Prior to treatments, he had 8 teeth pulled and a PEG feeding tube installed in his stomach. Due to the effects of the radiation in his throat he won’t be able to eat normal foods or drink certain liquids. This in itself will be a challenge knowing how much he loves to eat. He will be on a strict high calorie liquid diet until his throat is healed enough for normal food again.
Joe does not have any health or dental benefits through his employer and while we are thankful that the VA is providing majority of his medical work and treatments, they do not provide financial support for normal daily living or post-op treatments/procedures including replacing the teeth that were pulled. Any support towards medical expensives would allow be a huge financial help.
He will stay employeed as long as his physical & mental strenghth will allow him to. At some point, he will not be able to work at all.
I am asking for family, friends and fellow veterans to help with donations or just by sharing his story on your newsfeed. Every little bit helps and every little action helps! No one should fight alone.
