Help Preserve 100 Years of Musical Heritage
For over 100 years, JG Windows has been a cornerstone of Newcastle’s vibrant music scene. Located in the iconic Central Arcade, the store has served generations of musicians and music lovers, offering everything from instruments to records and sheet music. Many famous artists, including Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, have fond memories of browsing the store and discovering their love for music.
Unfortunately, after facing years of difficult competition from online retailers, JG Windows has announced its permanent closure. Despite its rich history and invaluable contribution to the community, the store can no longer continue in its current form and is set to close on December 12, 2024.
Why We Need Your Help!
The closure of JG Windows is not just the end of a beloved store—it’s the loss of an institution that has shaped the musical culture of Newcastle. Generations of musicians bought their first instruments, listened to their first albums, and dreamed big in the store. It’s more than just a shop; it’s a piece of the city’s soul.
While the store’s future may seem uncertain, there is still hope. The liquidators have stated that there is potential for a buyer to step in, preserving the Windows name, brand, and heritage. This is where we need your support.
How You Can Make a Difference!
Your donation will help us secure the future of JG Windows, ensuring that this landmark remains a vital part of Newcastle’s musical legacy. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in preserving this piece of history for future generations.
Together, we can give JG Windows a chance to continue inspiring music lovers and musicians in the North East and beyond.
