Honoring Ruby Thomas’ life

It is with immense sadness that Richard Thomas and his family share that their beloved mom, Ruby Thomas, passed away in the hospital the morning of Friday, July 1, after several weeks of illness, including a massive stroke in the days prior.
Right now, Richard needs the help of family and friends to help honor and celebrate Ruby’s life and help lay her to rest and help settle her health expenses while they honor her beautiful spirit and life. Your help, however small or large, will help remove added stress and allow Richard and the family to grieve. In recent years, Ruby battled chronic illness and the usual resources were drained. Richard has served as the primary caretaker for Ruby for the last four years, with help from select family and friends.
If you know Richard and the family, you know Ruby Thomas was an angel on earth and love incarnate during her 75 years... Ruby was a loving and dedicated single mother to her kids. She was a mother to everyone in her extended family and beyond. She spent her life raising her family in Chicago and the West Suburbs, working fulltime or sometimes two jobs when needed. She had a career in customer service for GE, and was a faithful member of Living Word Church in nearby Forest Park, IL for 15 years. Later in life, she relocated to Akron to be closer to her extended family.
From her smile to her sense of style and humor, Ruby was a joy. Nothing made her more happy than spending time with her family and friends and seeing her family flourish. Thank you to all who show up and show out to honor Ruby and help show support to Richard and the family as they navigate this devastating and immense loss.
