My Brother Chris

The minute my little brother entered this world, he was destined to face and defeat many great difficulties in life.  At a young age Chris was diagnosed with a rare auto immune disease called Hyper IGE syndrome (Job’s Syndrome). Throughout our childhood I remember countless trips to the hospital and wondering why my brother didn’t live with us? I thought the hospital was his home. Chris has endured many painful and frustrating years….and over the years, these trials have strengthened him and made him who he is today. A fighter in every sense of the word!

December 17, 2013 Chris was back at the hospital. After several tests, Chris baffled doctors once again. They found 24 large masses throughout his body. His organs were barely recognizable. On top of that, one tumor grew so large that it broke his back. He had been on his feet working for several weeks with that broken back. Like I said, a fighter! 2 days after his wedding day Chris  was diagnosed with Lymphatic Cancer. He fought hard and after a year, he won yet another battle. Soon after Chris’s cancer went into remission, our Father was diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, he lost his battle on August 30, 2014.

A few weeks ago Chris found himself back at the hospital with severe abdominal and back pain. After several days of tests, the doctor came into the room with crushing news. Just 2 days after his 31st birthday, Chris was diagnosed with Stage 4 Gallbladder cancer. The cancer has spread into his liver and lymph nodes. Gall Bladder cancer is rare. There are rarely symptoms until it is in the final stages and there has never been a case of it combined with Job’s Syndrome. Needless to say we are all heart broken, devastated and confused as to why my brother has had to endure such grief, pain and illness.

Chris’s wife Angie, his rock, his partner, is staying close by his side. Her 4 children who Chris has taken on as his own are a source of strength that keeps him going. Through meeting Angie, not only has he become a loving husband, he has risen up to the challenge and been an amazing Father to those kids. The love that Chris has for his family is emanated in his smile, in his action, in the way he looks at them. Since the diagnosis, Chris’s strength and resolve has been admirable to say the least. I believe that this is because of the love that surrounds him from all of us and the love he gives in return.

I am asking for donations to help my brother pay for extra medical bills and to help his family as they fight this. Chris cannot work and Angie on top of dealing with chronic pain has had to quit work to take care of Chris and their beautiful children. Please give what you can, any amount helps and is very much appreciated. Please keep him and our family in your thoughts & prayers!
