Johnston Prom and U of I Childrens Hospital Fund
Update: $11,000 total money raised through t-shirt sales and GoFundMe donations
PSA: THIS EVENT IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH JOHNSTON HIGH SCHOOL IN ANY WAY, FORM, OR FASHION.
We would like to thank DJ Marty McFly, Stonehaven Barn, Jordan Creek Mall, Sprayer Specialities, Metro Rentals, Charlotte's Kitchen, Iowa Bounce Pro, and Windstar Lines for making this prom a possibility for all Johnston juniors and seniors. Your generosity does not go unnoticed and we are extremely grateful for your contributions towards this prom.
As many of you know, JCSD recently cancelled the 2020 JHS prom due to COVID-19. Certainly no one could’ve expected COVID-19 to take over our lives like it has done but we applaud all those who were involved in striving to make prom a great experience for all juniors and seniors. We understand that there are much more serious and significant things to worry about in the world rather than a cancelled prom but a few JHS students have come together to brainstorm a way to make prom happen. We will be taking donations to help fund our own prom for all JHS juniors and seniors. 50% of our donations on GoFundMe will go to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital to help assist in this time of need. The other 50% will go towards funding a prom that we hope to have on a Saturday in late June. We also currently have about 3,500 “Iowave” t-shirts, provided by Tailgating Specialties (free of charge), that we will be selling for $10 each. For each t-shirt sale we will also be donating 50% of the sale to the children's hospital in Iowa City. The other 50% will be going towards funding the prom. All additional funds above our required budget will also be given to the children's hospital. The link to buy these shirts is: https://www.tailgatingspecialties.com/iowa-wave-t-shirts
We appreciate everyone who would be happily willing to donate to a cause that would make Johnston senior's school year a little bit better.
