Jill's Bat Mitzvah Project - Homeward Bound Dog Rescue!

Hi! I can’t wait for my Bat Mitzvah on April 26, 2025. As part of becoming a Bat Mitzvah, I will be doing a mitzvah project.

For my mitzvah project, I decided to collect supplies and raise money for the Homeward Bound Dog Rescue of New York (HBDRNY), which is a group that is very special to me. HBDRNY is not a shelter and does not have a facility, and all the dogs live in foster homes in the area. The dogs eat, sleep, and live with their foster family so the family gets to know the dog well, which gives them the opportunity to match families up with the dogs so a home really is forever! There are so many homeless dogs who need help and 3 of my dogs came from there! The rescue group relies on donations to pay for care while being fostered by volunteers, like food and medical bills (including spaying and neutering all the dogs, and vaccinations).

I want to help Homeward Bound because my dogs Frankie, Pepper, and Milo were all adopted from there. Frankie was a puppy at a shelter in S. Carolina and was rescued with his brothers, and all 3 were brought to NY to be fostered. Pepper was around 1 1/2 years old when she was surrendered to a shelter in Tennessee when her elderly owner could no longer take care of her. She was rescued and made the trip to NY for her foster home. And Milo was around 4 years old when he arrived at a shelter in Kentucky as he was rescued from there and brought to NY. I can't imagine not having these dogs in my family. I’m so thankful for rescue organizations like HBDRNY because they give dogs like mine a chance to not only survive but to also find loving homes.

I have set up this GoFundMe page to raise money that will go directly to HBDRNY. I have set an initial goal of $750 but I’m hoping we can raise a lot more money so we can help them care for even more dogs.
