Jill Marzullo's Lung Transplant
Donation protected
In December my mom (Jill) was told She needed a lung transplant or She would not be around next December. She was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis 5years ago, this disease has with no cure. The Dr told her her to lose 20lbs before they would evaluate her for a lung transplant. By February 2017 she lost the required 20 lbs and has been exercising 5 days a week at the Hospital's Pulmonary rehab center. Despite all that she is going through she remains upbeat and sweet spirited. She said that she feels better than she has in a long time. Except for the fact that her lungs are full of scar tissue and are shrinking to 36% capacity. In February, Jill started the evaluation at Shands Hospital in Gainesville FL. They check you from head to toe. The results came in and the transplant coordinator called and told her she is on the list and to pack her bags. This is because she lives 2 hours from the hospital and would have to be on the road within 45 mins of receiving the call. This is exciting and scary at the same time. My mom will have to live in Gainesville following the surgery for 3-4 months. We are still trying to figure out how to afford the cost of the surgery and the stay in Gainesville. I'm hoping that with the support of family and friends we will be able to meet all expenses. Even if you can't give please send her lots of prayers and uplifting words of encouragement, it will mean the world to her. Thank you for all the support!
