Jim barrett's independent general election campaign

Hi, my name is Jim Barrett. I'm running in the upcoming 2024 general election for Limerick county constituency as an independent candidate!

My partner Susan and i have two daughters Caitlin and Jodie 12 and 10 respecttively! I work for Irish Rail and have done so for the last 25 years! Im also a dry stock farmer and own and run pedal pursuits bike hire. Why im running is because limerick city and county council brought a company (lazy bike tours) from Dublin to run a bike hire business in the Limerick county area and provided them with €300k loan, along with storage containers, offices, generators! all the while my business received zero support financially or otherwise! LCCC used the media to state untruths about ny business including stating that there was no shuttle bus in operation on the greenway which was a complete lie and actually used my shuttle bus on accasion when politicians were in town regarding the greenway!

This was all done under the guise of a fair EOI process which it was anything but! I have chased LCCC on this corruption, complaining LCCC to the ombudsman, CCPC, public accounts, OGP, made a FOI request that LCCC did not fully respond to which required me to make a complaint to the office of the Information Commissioner who upheld my complaint and made damning finding against LCCC! All this was done without any help from my public representatives but actually supported by 27 out of 40 councillors who voted to give Limerick peoples money to a company in Dublin. The current TD's/ministers made no effort to help me against this wrong doing and has shown me that good people can be taking on by this state without any support whatsoever! To make matters worse, this company ceased trading in limerick this year 2024 and €200k is now unaccounted for! We have all watched and listened in horror at the willful waste of this government and previous government's because procurement is not policed or controlled by any department and has shown it is a free for all without fear of repercussions! If I'm elected I will tackle this uncontrolled wastage and ensure guidelines are changed to policy and regulations! I'm also running because I know I can give you better representation than what the current incumbents are providing you with. I have clearly stated out my to do list and more on my social media accounts!

Unlike the party candidates of FF, FG and others, who only answer to the party leaders and party executive! I will answer to the people and the people will be my boss! I feel im part of a party, the party of the people! And this campaign is not my campaign, it's our campaign!
