Jim broke his hip. Help support his recovery.

Hello Everyone!

Our good friend James (Jim) MacSwain slipped on the ice and fractured his hip last month. I'm starting this fundraiser to help him cover costs related to (temporarily) moving out of his house. For those of you who don't know Jim, his house has about a million stairs and so we is not able to recover in his home.

For his recovery, he's moved into an accessible 1 level apartment. Due to the high cost of short-term accommodation and the limited options for accessible accommodation, it would be amazing if we could assist him with this emergency expense. Because his recovery has been slower than anticipated, he may require this accommodation for up to 12 weeks. If we are able to fundraiser these costs, then we can ensure Jim will be able to have this accommodation for as long as his recovery requires.

We're also hoping this fundraiser could also support other expenses such as: massage and osteopathic therapies (he is receiving physio already) and some additional funds for food and other deliveries. Because Jim is not able to leave his current apartment, this would be incredibly helpful to him.

UPDATE:
WOW! I am so happy to say that as of Monday March 14th we have reached our goal and a bit beyond to help Jim deal with the extra costs associated with his hip fracture. Anything beyond our goal at this point will help provide Jim with a bit of a cushion in case he needs it for: extra time to stay in his recovery apartment, as well as getting some physical therapies. We are all hoping that he'll be back in his beautiful garden at home for the beginning of May.

For those who don't know Jim, I will tell you he is a beloved human being within the Halifax arts and queer communities. You can read his bio below:
