James “Jim” Doris, an American Airlines pilot and a highly decorated US Marine pilot, passed away on May 30, 2022. We lost an amazing man, a wonderful husband, father, and friend on Memorial Day. He was a gifted and talented aviator, who proudly served his country while raising a family. Jim is survived by his wife, Suzanne Lamothe Doris, and their three children, Payton (10), Zach (13), and Jared (22). Suzanne is a former American Airlines flight attendant, who left the company to raise her and Jim’s children after they met on a flight on Easter Sunday and got married. Jared, Jim’s eldest child, is following in his father’s footsteps with his recent induction into the Naval Aviation Program.
Jim, in addition to being a loving husband and father, is a U.S. Marine officer and C-130 pilot, who upon retirement from the Marines, was hired at American Airlines in 2000. Jim passed young, being only 53 years old. He has been on long-term disability for over 2 years. He suffered from Pics disease, which is rare form of Early Onset Dementia, which affects the frontal lobe of the brain. Jim passed in a care facility in Wellington, Fl, surrounded by family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and forever loved.
