Jim Hummel's Journey

Hi, there!

I'm Jim's sister, Laura.

I'm starting this gofundme page to help pay for Jim's medical bills, and memorial for when that time comes.

Jim has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and has no health, or life insurance. There are no treatment options for him as his tumor is so large, and chemo or radiation could kill him rather than help him.

He is not a candidate for transplant surgery, either, so he will be going home from the hospital on hospice whenever hospice delivers a bed to his home in Virginia.

His daughter, Stacey(her partner, John), and Jim's partner, Christine, have been tirelessly caring for him for the last month since his diagnosis.

His story is tragic. A love finally found - Christine...another reason to stay sober.

Jim had recently hit 600 days sober prior to his diagnosis. What a wonderful milestone!

His liver cancer is such a heartbreaking prognosis for such a good man. He's always struggled to find happiness for himself. When he was well, he would be the one to make us laugh, and that's what he loved to do.

Unfortunately, when he finally found his own happy, life had its own dreaded plan.
