Jim Meachen

Hi my name is Nate and I'm fundraising on behalf of the family of my friend, Jim Meachen. I worked closely with Jim during my career in Law Enforcement. Jim instantly became a trusted friend and I consider him my brother, in every sense of the word.

About two months ago, Jim started experiencing symptoms consistent with TIA (or mini strokes). After an MRI and CT scan it was confirmed that was the case and in retrospect it was realized that he had a larger one when moving from Concord to West Boylston last July and more since then. Jim had also been laid off from his job at the end of September and while he initially dove into a job search, it quickly became clear that he needed to concentrate on becoming healthy before returning to work. On Sunday, November 12th following the church service, Jim’s wife identified signs of a stroke and called 9-1-1. Jim was taken by ambulance to UMASS Hospital where it was confirmed he was having another stroke. The medical staff attended to his needs and carefully discerned that placement of a stent in the cerebral artery was necessary to prevent a massive, fatal stroke. On Tuesday, November 14th he was taken into surgery where the stent was successfully placed. Unfortunately, he developed a brain bleed which was not survivable. His wife and children held his hands, shared their love for him and stayed by his side until he died at 10:15 Wednesday morning, November 15th.

With Jim's passing, his family will be left with medical bills and funeral expenses.

Jim was the epitome of a man. His devotion to his wife, his selflessness to his family and the love that he had for life was immeasurable.

Please help the Meachen family focus their energy towards each other at this time and not on the stresses associated with the loss of their husband and father.
