This fundraiser is to help our loving family member Jim Segal with his medical bills. After several months of internal bleeding and so many blood transfusions that we've lost count (40 +++), he was diagnosed with 2 very rare diseases, one being Aggressive Natural Killer Cell Leukemia, the other rare disease is called GAVE. They are both devastating diseases, with the Leukemia being the worst of all the Leukemia Cancers. There isn't a cure and treatment is very extensive...it is almost daily that he is either at the hospital or in the clinic.
While this malady was being treated, and still ongoing, he has been hit with one of the most serious cancers being LGL. He's had several chemotherapies and numerous ongoing blood transfusions, we're also in the process of searching for a Bone Marrow Recipient. Understandably, Jim is not feeling his best as he has lost over 35 lbs due to muscle wasting, he's had ongoing fevers, headaches and an unbalanced equilibrium. His family is also concerned about his cognitive abilities and he is no longer able to drive.
Presently we are searching for a bone marrow donor, so that the cells may help with the leukemia. Another major concern is getting him to the point of where he needs lesser and lesser blood transfusions because, as of late, he has literally been going every other day for one. It not only takes a toll on him but also on his wife as well as she drives him to all his appointments and the hospital drive is an hour and a half away without traffic, to and from, it's exhausting. Throughout all of this Jim and his family are remaining hopeful but it's an emotional rollercoaster throughout. He had to be transported by rescue a couple of times because of a bad fall due to his weak state and also dangerously low hemoglobin at just 4.4.....which is serious enough for any man, but because he has epilepsy it's even more alarming.
This Fundraiser is to help Jim and his family to defer the extreme medical costs, each blood transfusion alone is nearly $500. OOP and that continues to-date. Chemotherapy, Examinations, ongoing blood tests, MRI'S, CAT Scans, ultrasounds, 3 endoscopes, 2 colonoscopies, Prescriptions, numerous hospital stays, on and on and on......
Thank you all for taking the time to read this post and would appreciate you sharing through any social media you may have, it means alot to his family caring for him.
Thanks to all and may GOD bless you all!❤
